As a business owner you are trying your hardest to keep the ship afloat. You have a million things on your to-do list, plus employees to keep up with, and deliver clients with the best possible experience.
Outsourcing is a relatively new idea. It began in the 1970’s when companies started to hire out “less than essential” work (Economist). Now, I am not saying that the support I provide is less than essential because let’s face it – we really do need to keep on top of our numbers and market to our audience. However, the support I provide is considered outsourcing and here is why it’s crucial.

Outsourcing keeps your time focused on your main goals
Your main goals in business need to be focused on your clients, and how you can provide them the best possible experience. If your daily tasks are consumed with banking, replying to emails, workflows that don’t flow, employees that need things etc. your work day will be gone in a flash and you will feel buried every day by work you are unable to accomplish.
Outsourcing allows you to hand off tasks that other people are fully capable of doing, which then allows your energy to go to the things you are passionate about, and your clientele. We all know our work is more valuable when we are passionate about it!
Outsourcing gives you more energy
During the pandemic, record numbers of people left their job. I think they knew they needed to reevaluate where they were spending their energy. According to Carey Nieuwhof, your “green hours” are the hours of the day when your brain is most on fire. Most people would say in the morning before the house wakes up, but others would say after everyone goes to bed. Whatever your green hours of the day are, use those hours to do your best work!
Setting up your work life to make your energy work for you is an ideal way to conduct business! Don’t waste your good hours on mundane tasks that someone else thrives on.
Work where your strengths lie
Spend your time focused on the aspects of your business that make you thrive! People feel so drained when they work on tasks they are not passionate about. For some, numbers are their favorite. For others, analyzing data makes them want to pull their hair out. Others love the creative aspect of business and working with clients while others would rather not be the face of the company that greets new clients. Work where you are strongest! If you don’t want to hire a full-time person for bookkeeping because of budget constraints, this is the perfect time to outsource to a freelancer. They charge way less, are in charge of their own retirement/insurance, and provide you with what you need monthly so you can focus on the tasks you love!
Applications keep the flow moving
Another form of outsourcing is finding applications that keep the flow going smoothly for your business. I love applications like Honeybook, Quickbooks, Hemingway, Evernote etc. Some of these I pay for and some of them come with free options that work just as well. These applications keep things organized and automatic which allows my brain to be less cluttered and more able to focus on my clients.
Keep your mind sharp and focused on your favorite tasks and hand the rest off to someone else! Your hours are way too valuable to waste precious brain space on things that drag you down.
