It’s been a while since I posted a blog post and today I am in the mood for a fun, lighthearted post to share some fun things I am doing or loving currently.
- Currently reading… “Liturgy of the Ordinary” & Mary Oliver
Something about the new year has me focusing on routines, long-lived traditions and now…liturgy. I have loved learning about ancient liturgy in the church and this book relates it back to life as a wife and mom. I also have been slowly diving into Mary Oliver’s essays and poems and will report back someday on how I’m liking it!
- Currently sipping… Earl Grey tea
After I have had too much coffee in the morning I switch over to tea and my tea of choice lately is Earl Grey.
- Currently learning about… Education laws and bills relating to school facilities
If you follow me on my personal Instagram account you may have noticed that I was highly distraught for months over a vote that occurred in October that will potentially close down my children’s neighborhood school and seven other schools. Now that the dust has settled a bit I can look back and realize that having your child’s school threatened is a traumatic situation, especially since no other options for schooling were provided. As a parent it was a highly stressful time. All that to say, though, I was able to spend large portions of time each week studying about school facility rules, maintenance requirements, emailing elected officials of Wyoming and attend very important meetings. My background and degree are in education and I am highly passionate about education, especially when it has to do with my own children. Causes like this are hard but very important to get involved in.
- Currently celebrating… Our oldest turning six this month
I know every parent says that your child’s life goes too fast, well it’s true and I can attest that I find it crazy that my oldest is turning six this month. He is so delightful and smart and we are lucky to be his parents.
- Currently anticipating… A trip to Great Wolf Lodge
Part of having two kids with winter birthdays (one being right after Christmas) birthday parties are not my favorite thing to host. They all have to be indoors since Wyoming weather is so unpredictable and most of the time people cancel due to illness anyways. Well this year we convinced the boys to try Great Wolf Lodge instead of having a birthday party. We are all very excited for this change and can’t wait to experience this as a family.
- Currently thinking through… summer childcare plans
I know we are in the thick of winter right now, but summer will be creeping up on us soon. I am trying to decide and plan for how many hours I want to work, what childcare will look like, what trips or activities we want to take and the whole gamut of summer plans is on my mind right now.
- Currently watching… Golf on Sundays & kid shows
The love of golf continues over here and Sundays (after football games) are for watching golf. We also watch plenty of kid shows like Moana 2, Frozen 2 and one we loved as a family was Wicked – Part 1.
- Currently working on… Taxes, client projects and upcoming Mastermind group
Oh taxes, such a beast to finish every year. I am working on those, sending out 1099-NEC’s to clients, working on client projects and starting a new Mastermind group with local female business owners. I will write an entire post on this, but since it is in the very beginning stages I don’t have much to say on it right now. Basically the format will be to meet up with 6-8 fellow business owners quarterly, bring one item of discussion that’s working in business to share with the group and one thing that is hard that the group could help with.
