At the end of March the family and I drove south to Colorado Springs to spend the weekend with my cousin and her family. We were in desperate need of warm weather and well, didn’t get that. But we wouldn’t trade it for a second because we had so much fun and made lots of memories!

When we arrived Friday afternoon we spent time at their gorgeous Garden of the Gods home. They drove us around on the golf cart, made a delicious flank steak meal, and showed our boys all of the toys they could play with. We stayed with family this time, however the Garden of the Gods has a great resort with luxury accommodations and breathtaking views.
We woke up at a leisurely pace on Saturday morning and packed all the warm clothes to go to the zoo. It was very windy this day and we needed all the layers. The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a very family-friendly environment with reasonable ticket prices. They are still limiting entrance to a certain number of people, so be sure to buy tickets ahead of time. I really appreciated the lack of lines and crowds. It allowed us to take our time and look at the animals at our own pace.

By noon we were freezing and ready for lunch, to which my cousin’s showed us a great German deli. We picked up meat, sausages and cheese and went back to the house. After lunch we rested a bit before playing Pickle-ball at the Garden of the Gods indoor facility.
We ate dinner at The Well: Colorado Springs. They have great vendors and a variety of food. Seating was a bit limited because of the crowds so we opted to eat outside under the heaters and play corn hole.
Sunday we drove home after visiting Trader Joe’s and our kids slept the entire way! It was a great weekend all around and we can’t wait to visit again.
